Day 217: Palm Reading

Fortune Tellers line the sidewalk at Temple Street Night Market, Hong Kong

During our weeklong visit to Hong Kong we visited the Temple Street Night Market on the Kowloon side of the city. The market stalls featured much the same items that are found in the fake markets of Shanghai and Beijing, so we had little interest in purchasing anything, but the two block length that featured fortune tellers was not like anything we’d seen before. Of course, Melinda had to have her palm read; for HK$150, about $20 USD, (and twenty minutes of my life that I’ll never get back) she heard all the things people want to hear and she got a good blog post out of it.

We flew to Hong Kong for a couple of days because James had to leave China before his 30-day visa expired; Hong Kong is now my favorite Chinese city!
