Gigantic United States flag flies over the Governor’s mansion in Boise, Idaho, USA

Today’s picture is a bit of a cheat for two reason’s; first, I took it on Sunday, on a drive back from Bogus Basin (that’s another story). I’d shot the Simplot Mansion / Governor’s Residence (still have never found confirmation that the property was returned by the state) before from another perspective, but this day the light was beautiful. The truth is, with the arrival of our granddaughter, I am spending every available moment with her instead of a camera; normally, I’d spend a couple of hours wandering around taking pictures, that’s just not happening. I did take pictures today, but they are cellphone snaps of Mia.
The second reason I am posting this particular picture today is the gigantic US flag flapping in the breeze. Often, too often, people like to hold the flag high and wave it, but for all the wrong reasons; I’m thinking of Cliven Bundy, on one hand waving the American flag, but on the other hand claiming that he doesn’t believe in the very nation it represents. And his misguided supporters hiding behind the flag of the United States of America while pointing loaded weapons at employees of that very nation, just doing their job.
But today, in Idaho, that enormous American flag represents all that is right and just about this nation;
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–
Today, in Idaho, we are all equal
