Day 131: Fast Food

Americans like their food and cars

A big difference between China and the USA is the approach to automobiles and food. In China, you see people walking everywhere, but here in the USA–Boise, Idaho in particular– the streets are virtually pedestrian free. And the approach to food is different as well; China has many small, independent restaurants on every block–it has been said to me that anyone with a wok and a couple of plastic chairs opens a restaurant; here in the USA fast food chains seem to dominate the restaurant business and we like them best if we don’t have to get out of our cars to get our food.
