The heavens opened on New York City, today; streets flooded, subways flooded, my shoes and socks flooded. Twice.
I met my lifelong friend Ron for coffee down in SOHO before riding the N train to Times Square NYC to buy half-price tickets to see Kinky Boots, tonight. By the time I got back to the hotel I was squishy. The rain continued all day and when we left for the theater it was still falling hard and fast, which means, of course, not an empty taxi to be found. The wet walk to and from the theater was well worth it, enjoyed the show, but enjoyed the reaction of our friend Steven to his first Broadway musical: “You won’t see shows like this in Beijing,” he said.
