Pink Christmas

This morning, Pink, our Ayi, came into the kitchen and grabbed Fiona, my Mandarin teacher, by the wrist; speaking excitedly in Chinese they went off into the dining room. When I entered the room with a cup of tea, I saw Pink posing next to the Christmas Tree and Fiona taking a blurry picture with Pink's non-smartphone. "She's a Christian," Fiona said, "that's why she wants a picture with the tree." I got out my camera, snapped a picture, printed it, put it in a small frame, gave it to Pink, and told her she had Christmas Day off. You'd have thought I'd given her the Mona Lisa! Small kindnesses are their own reward.

Merry Christmas! God bless us, every one!
