From Rural to Urban: Transition in Harmony

The high-speed bullet train–“Harmony”–between Shanghai and Beijing, passes through a countryside that is in transition from small, rural farms worked by a handful of farmers,with minimal machinery, to an area of overnight cities, where empty,high-rise apartment buildings grow out of the soil and wide, empty roads connect them to the unfinished factories. This is China’s urban planning. The air pollution from field burning is being replaced by the air pollution from power plants, factories and automobiles.
