Mao’s House is a Very,Very,Very Fine House

No.5--9,lane 120, North Maoming road is the Skiomen style house in which Mao Zedong lived with his wife and two sons during the early 1920's, at the time of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party. It is open to the public and admission is free, which is a good thing, because it insures that you get your money's worth. Consisting of mostly bad reproductions of bad photographs, there is the occasional historical artifact like an old, worn brown leather arm chair that Mao supposedly sat in, a navy blue Mao suit he wore (though they all look alike, right, so who can really say) a couple of cigar stubs and some propaganda papers that the Chairman authored in his youth. A fitting lukewarm remembrance of the founder of Communist China who was, as Deng Xiaoping famously said, "70% right and 30% wrong"
