Day 209: Patience

Patience is not a virtue in China, in particular, among Chinese drivers; nobody stops, nobody waits, nobody yields. In this situation, a woman is sweeping the street, her dustbin further down the lane blocking access to a right turn, but that doesn’t stop this driver from squeezing past, to then cut in front of the car on his left so he could avoid the dustbin. Unlike in the USA where drivers stop, or at least slow before making a right turn on red, in China 9 out of 10 drivers accelerate before the turn. Swerving around another car, bicycle, or pedestrian is more common than stopping for it.
